FD monogram, 2007

This is a personal project, that came from wanting to design a self-inking stamp with what would be a monogram with my initials.

I designed the monogram using simple pixels, and tried to use the space in a uniform way, not leaving too many blanks or too many red zones. Modern by its pixelated look, it also pays a tribute to older monograms, like the ones used on Japanese etchings or wax seals used through medieval times.

The part with the F's bar coming inside the D can resemble a "E", thus hinting to my middle name's initials. It's therefore possible to read this monogram "FD" or "FED", for Fabrice Etienne Ducouret.

The ink stamp was manufactured, and I use it on a regular basis on letters, artworks or envelopes.
